TEXT: EPHESIANS 1:3-10
God originally created man for his own pleasure. He created man in His image and gave him authority over all His creatures. He enjoyed fellowship with Adam (the first man He created) in the Garden of Eden. Sin interrupted this fellowship (to God’s displeasure). God immediately made every necessary plan to restore the fallen man unto full fellowship with Himself. This plan is however not without recourse to God’s righteous standard. God’s law demands that “the soul that sinneth must die”. So the Bible says: without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins (HEB 9:22).
However the bible says “for it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins” (Heb. 10:4). The scripture also stated that the gifts and sacrifices offered to ATONE FOR SINS UNDER THE Old Testament failed to cleanse the hearts of the people who brought them (Heb9:10). These sacrifices and rituals only served as a stop gap awaiting God’s new and better way.
As many that will believe and accept the atonement made available through the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross of Calvary shall be saved. Men may design various means of obtaining salvation but this is the only way acceptable to God (Rom 6:23). To reject this offer God gave to mankind in His mercies is to head towards eternal doom.
PRAYER: Father, help me to understand Your plan for my life and willingly submit myself to it.
