TEXT: ACTS 2:1-14

What John the Baptist had prophesied concerning Jesus (Matt 3:11) thus “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance …He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit”, has come to fulfillment here on the day of Pentecost. The venue was in the temple not in the upper room as often said by some. Speaking in tongues is languages known somewhere in the world but not by the speaker (it is a recitation of the wonderful works of God). Speaking in tongues is not mere babble, chatter as some mockingly say. It is the initial physical evidence that one has been baptized by the spirit as predicted by Isaiah long ago (Isa 28:9-12) and Jesus in the gospels.

This strange manifestation drew attention as one would expect since people from far and near heard their languages. As some were held aghast, some mocked which gave chance to Peter to spread the gospel. We all should desire speaking in tongues given by the Holy Spirit. It has power. We should use every opportunity to spread the gospel.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, in this end time, stirs your church with your Spirit.
