Apart from Mary, Jesus made other appearances to his disciples.  One was when Thomas was absent and he missed the word “peace” pronounced twice and the breathing of the Holy Spirit on those present (vv. 21-22). Certainly, Thomas would not have been the only one doubting Jesus resurrection but he was the only one who publicity bared his mind.  This is a lesson to us all to try and always be where we should be at the right time.  The first assemblies on Sundays started with Jesus disciples on two consecutive Sundays.  The giving of authority to the church also started with the disciples meeting with the risen Lord (v. 23). Jesus resurrection has been proved here too. It does not mean that Thomas was a cast out disciple because he became great messenger of the gospel who also was martyred like most of the Disciples of Christ.
