TEXT: JOSHUA 9:3-15
The God we serve is a powerful God whose deeds are known world-wide. Joshua unlike David in 1Samuel 30:8 did not inquire of the Lord before he signed the peace treaty with the people of Gibeon in spite of the fact that he suspected a foul play as recorded in verse 7 of our text.
Instead of answering Joshua’s question “How do we know you don’t live nearby?” They answered in verse 8 “we will be your slaves”! Even with this instead of asking for a discerning spirit from God like David, he went ahead to sign a peace treaty with a binding oath. How many times have you taken steps without consulting God? Even when we do, are we always patient enough to receive from Him before we blindly launch into whatever we, most often, purposed to do? In order not to run contrary to God’s plans and purposes for our lives, we should cultivate the habit of asking from God and obeying Him to the letter.
PRAYER: Father in the highest, help me to always inquire for your heart desire for me before I take steps in everything I do in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
