TEXT: 1KINGS 3: 5-15
Wisdom is profitable in all things. King Solomon prayed and asked God to give him wisdom that he would use to govern God’s People. Men of wisdom know that every soul belongs to the Lord and human wisdom will not allow God’s purpose to manifest. ‘Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.’ (Jer 33:3) ‘Does any of you lack wisdom, let him ask’ (Jam 1:5). Solomon knew that the secret of all success lies in the wisdom of God. In verse 5, God gave Solomon an Open cheque by appearing to him in a dream to ask whatever he wants from him. Solomon acknowledged what God did through his father David, how he was faithful to him and in verse 9, he made a demand for God to give him wisdom which pleased the Lord. Heaven’s response was “because this is in your heart” this tells us that God knows our heart; he knows what is in our heart. God promised to David was I will give you all that you did not ask me to do. Solomon did not ask for riches, power and popularity. He will not ask for something personal but rather what will benefit the entire community. Are you asking for something now, for your personal gain?
PRAYER: Lord, help me to ask for wisdom that I will no longer ask for things that have eternal value
