TEXT: DANIEL 2: 36 – 45
A kingdom is a territory or group of people ruled by the same Monarch. Monarch ruled and they are no more but there’s a coming King that will rule and his territory has no boundaries, it has no end. Verses 36 to 45 give the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. The metals represent different kingdoms and also the outline of the history of the Gentiles from Daniel to the coming of Christ. Daniel prudently differentiated the dream from the interpretation. This coming kingdom should be our priority (v.37). Nebuchadnezzar was the world ruler of his day (Jer 27:6-7, 14). None of the rulers had as much absolute power as him. He was the “king of kings (Eze 26:7). In verse 38, Nebuchadnezzar ruled because God gave him the privilege to rule. Herodotus visited Babylon about 90 years after Nebuchadnezzar. He said that much of the temples and accouterments were made of solid gold. Daniel gives more space to this fourth kingdom than the other three. No human world power follows Rome except the kingdom of the messiah, every other kingdom will suffer damage and spoil only the coming kingdom of the God of heaven will stand forever, are you prepared for this kingdom, do you have hope and faith in this coming kingdom that will never fade away?
PRAYER: Lord, help me to place my hope and trust in your everlasting kingdom not in the kingdom of this world that will soon fade away, in Jesus’ name, Amen
