TEXT:   EXODUS 36:1-7

Giving to God attracts a lot of blessings. The Israelites gave for the purpose of building the sanctuary as commanded by God. It was a voluntary giving of what God had given to them. While people brought material things for the building, some people voluntarily gave themselves up for the work as the Lord had given them different skills.

The people were willing to give and they gave on a daily basis to the extent that the skilled workers requested Moses to inform the people to stop giving. People were restricted from bringing more materials.

When we compare this with what is happening nowadays we will discover that only a few people would be willing to donate voluntarily when such requests are made in our churches. While some people would donate willingly, some will do so because they will not like other people to make jest of them for not donating anything.

Let us be reminded that we should give abundantly from our resources, time, and skills always especially when there is a call to do so. By doing so, the Lord God himself will bless us abundantly. Let us not do God’s work grudgingly or with complaints. Let us do it with all our hearts.
