THE CALL OF ABRAHAM

TEXT:GEN. 12:1-7

God’s call is never without purpose or benefits. He calls his own to use and achieves his will and plans. Since God is not a taskmaster, he is committed to preserving and blessing the one(s) he has called. His call is definite. He communicates his mind clearly (either at first or along the line). He is simple but firm with what he wants the called to do and how to go about things. However, God may want to be unfolding the assignment(s) bit by bit as his relationship with the called progresses.

Abraham’s call was clear with the aim that “all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”  – Gen. 12:3b. While God engages a man to do his will, he has provided and guaranteed his welfare package for that man. One notable response of Abraham to God’s call is that he obeyed and acted at once. Obedience to God’s call is vital and this is to be done promptly and absolutely.

PRAYER: Dear Father, please help me never to disobey your call. Help me to cherish it and act promptly, in Jesus’ name.
