JESUS’ WISDOM ASTONISHED

MARK 6:1-6
Jesus went to Nazareth, his home town and its neighbouring villages, the people there had rejected him once before (Luke 4:16, 28-30), but now he wanted to give them second chance. They were amazed at Jesus’ teaching, his wisdom and at his miracles. They remembered Jesus as a boy who has lived with them, they know his father, mother, brothers and sisters very well. They became jealous of him, they were angry at him, they took offense, who is he to teach us? They scoffed. This kind of rejection is a very common thing. If someone from our village becomes famous and then come back and begin to teach us, we don’t like it. We reject his teachings because of jealousy. We don’t honour him, yet if he goes elsewhere, he will receive honour. How many benefits and progress/development have you missed from your people because of jealousy. Mainly because you know his background she/he is your junior and you cannot acknowledge his/her gift thereby missing the blessing of God you should have received. The people there lost because Jesus could not do great work and miracles there because of their unbelief and knew his background If we also want to experience the power of Christ in our community and individual lives, we must believe in Christ, the only miracle that can happen to us.

They were amazed at Jesus’ teaching, his wisdom and at his miracles.

PRAYER: Lord give me a wisdom that will be a marvel to men and confound the wise
