TEXT: MATTHEW 13:1-9, 18-23
While on earth, Jesus used parables mostly to teach using common or familiar scenario and one of such was the Parable of Sower. Jesus used this parable to explain how people differ in their openness to God’s Word. While some are very receptive, some are indifferent. Furthermore, some are hostile to it, yet it is the nature of receiving the Word that produces fruit either good or bad. Which category are you? It is a common prayer that worshippers should not return home the way they came. This is a very good prayer because for every God – leading sermon, there is or are either a warning, an edification, a prophesy etc. meant to be beneficial to both the speaker and the congregation. However, individuals receive by hearing, meditation, or otherwise, searching further or abandoning the vital point(s) in the message and this is where the different categories of hearers fall. Does the Word of God you hear have deeply -rooted influence in your life or not?
PRAYER – Heavenly father, kindly endow me with the right spirit which makes use of Your Word as I receive it from different sources on different occasions in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
