TEXT: ACTS 7:54-60
As a faithful follower of Christ, Stephen the Martyr demonstrated to us all that man can pray for his enemies. When referring to Jesus action, we may say He is not a man but God, what of Stephen? The story of the death (which the bible describe as a “sheep” in verse 60 of our text) should draw us closer to God because the revelation and his declarations in verses 56 which seemed to anger his enemies the more, could be part of what helped Apostle Paul who was the young man who kept the clothes of those who stoned Stephen. Just like Jesus, Stephen in verse 60 prayed for his executors. Can you pray for those who hurt your feelings? Let us check our ways and be the emulator of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ so that what is laid up for us in our eternal home can be ours. The Lord will help our weak spirit to love our enemies and pray for them.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, help me to surrender everyone who has offended me in one way or the other by way of total forgiveness so that I can have a place with you in heaven at last. Amen.
