TEXT: LUKE 12:32-44
Our call to be stewards in the bible is much broader than we typically think it is. Just like Joseph who was put in charge of Potiphar’s house, Christians have inherited and granted authorities as well as responsibilities to lovingly rule over creation’s affairs much like the overseer of a household. Our responsibility extends to the household of faith, the church and to creation itself. We are expected to lead and serve in whatever domain God has given to us. A steward has to refrain from sin as this can lead to willful abandonment of God’s commandment.
However, some people think that stewarding deals with money, possessions and giving. The idea deals with our being generous and sharing our resources for tithing and treatment of the poor. We should always see God as the provider and source of all our resources and them to expand His kingdom and not ours. When we realize that we are managers of whatever resources God has placed in our hands then our attitude in the use of the resources would change. We should act as caretakers and stewards in the handling of these resources and spiritual gifts of God to us. Let us reflect God’s image in whatever position we find ourselves in the church of God.
Each one of us will give account of himself to God. What will be your account on the judgment day?
PRAYER: Father, please help me to be a good steward of all You have endowed me with, in Jesus name. Amen.
