FORSAKING TO FOLLOW

TEXT:   LUKE 5:12-21

The man prostrated before the Lord Jesus Christ and implored Him to heal him. This shows that the man had an insight into the person of our Lord. “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean” (Luke 5:12) the leper did not doubt the Lord’s ability to heal. Many people who wish to be healed could learn from this leper’s faith. In v.13 Jesus said, “I am willing, be cleansed”. Jesus touched the leper to show that he was willing and to show that he could not be defiled by his uncleanliness and provide instant healing of a serious disorder.

This incident demonstrated Jesus power over all forms of diseases. He can also heal us of our ailments if only we have faith in Him. Verse 16 says that Jesus would often slip away to the wilderness and pray because he wanted to maintain his relationship with God the Father.

Prayer is a time for fellowship with the Father and a time of communion between Father and Son.

These days our popular preachers and evangelists are falling. Many have failed to follow the example of our Lord Jesus and forgetting that it is only in our weakness and His strength that God’s sufficiency is shown.

Furthermore, when Jesus returned to His headquarters (Matt (9:1-2), news of His return was proclaimed to nearby places because they believed in His healing power. Many people came to him and a paralytic was brought also through the roof of the house because of the crowd. Jesus saw their faith and said, “Your sins are forgiven”. Jesus’ ability to forgive sins, troubled the Pharisees because it was their belief that only God can forgive sins. Jesus then went ahead to heal the paralytic. Note that forgiveness of sin is more important than the healing.

PRAYER: Let me not be a backslider. Increase my faith in you in Jesus’ name. Amen
