TEXTS:  HEB, 13:4: I COR, 6:9-10

Marriage should be honored by all the marriage bed kept pure, for god will judge the adulterer “(I Cor 6:9-10). Even right from the Old Testament, adultery had been a sin against both man and God (Gen 39:7-9), and it was capable of defiling the whole nation/community. (Num 25:6-8 Ez 33:26 ). This is apart from the likely sicknesses in the body (Prov 2:18,19: prov 6:26,29,34). Stolen water may be (momentarily) sweet it is also poisonous (prov 9:17,18). In the New testament, Jesus introduces a higher moral standard the mere looking at and lusting after a woman is good as committing the sin of adultery (Mt 5:27,28:15:19). The Christian must therefore guard his heart (the manner eve) with all diligence (prov 4:23: Mt 15:19). The adulterer will not have a part place in the kingdom of God (1 Cor, 6:9 Gal 5:19-21: Rev 22:15). This calls for a sober reflection in the permissive age we are in more than ever before, the Christian needs the help of the Holy Spirit to live above this sin and others.

PRAYER: Lord, help us in our interaction through Holy Spirit, to maintain chastity in all our thoughts and actions, in Jesus Name Amen
