TEXT: JAMES 3:1-12

      Of all the pants of the body, the tongue is the one openly used most daily to relate with God and fellow human beings. Despite it importance it is used both positively and negatively. Our scripture for today says it needs to be termed and you know it is something wild that need turning that is to be strictly controlled whenever it is to be used. The tongue is identified with fire. As fire is needed for casting so it can do God serious harm. The tongue is used for perusing and also used to tear down fellow home created by God. James therefore enjoin us in today’s  passage to use our tongues to bless and not curse, as teacher or we Christians should be exemplary in the use of tongues because we are to shine and be salt for the world. The Yoruba people like words spoke to broken eggs, once broken it cannot be gathered. We should be slow to speak and when we speak, it must be edifying.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, give me the ability to be controlling my tongue so as not lead me to hell
